Another start to the season another high profile star in trouble with the law. Will footballers ever learn? The NRL must be asking themselves why they even bother to have a “face” of the game.
Benji Marshall made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was charged with assault after an incident in a McDonald’s restaurant. This comes after the Dally M winner Todd Carney went low range DUI the week before. And as the betting saga revolving around Ryan Tandy.
The NRL doesn’t need this but somehow the game continues to strength. Audiences are up, TV ratings are up. Hopefully all the bad press stops when the footy starts and players learn to behave responsibly (I won’t hold my breath) and we can start talking about what really matters – FOOTY.
