The Weekend That Was

There’s a reason the sport has such as huge following. The unexpected.

I’ll start with soccer (football to the rest of the world).

The mighty Reds had a year to forget in 2010 but 2011 is looking so much better. Progidal son Kenny Dalglish is back at the helm at things are once again positive for Liverpool. Their 3-1 win over arch rivals Manchester United was simply superb. Dirk Kuyt has not scored an easier hat trick. His combined effort was probably from about three yards. The real star of the show was new signing Luis Suarez, especially with the first goal whose brilliant skill left Kuyt with the simplest of finishes right on the goal line.

The 3-1 thumping at Anfield is Man Utd’s second straight loss and really opens up the race to the Premiership. Though they are still three points clear at the top with a game in hand to second place Arsenal who dropped two valuable points in the scoreless draw at home to Sunderland.

Other big soccer news the ‘snood’ has been banned. That’s right wearing neck scarves has been banned. Poor Argentinean Carlos Tevez will have to expose his neck to the elements. Perish the thought it might get cold while out on a football field in the middle winter. In order to keep his neck warm he may actually need to run more.
